Hello,

I have the HD800s that is currently playing on the Oppo-HA1. I want to use the Oppo as a preamp and want to buy a new amp that has to be balanced inputs and outputs and is cheaper than 1000€. An amp I liked in the past is the LakePeople-109, unfoutunately it has not balanced outputs. So I need an amp like the 109 but with balanced outputs.

If it has to be balanced, +1 to the Mjolnir 2 recommendation. Honestly though, the best amps I've heard with the HD800/S have been single ended in design. Why is balanced a must?

Yes to best honest the best I have heard the HD800 is with a singled ended OTL tube amp, the Feliks Audio Espressivo is €799 and plays superbly with the HD800

It dosen't have to be balanced although I notice a major diffrence when I switch to XLR on my OPPO-HA1. So if single ended amp sounds great regardless then I'd go with that.
What I liked about the LakePeople-109 is that it made the bass so much clearer and punchier.

What I read about the Feliks Audio Espressivo is that it isn't as bassy https://headfonics.com/2016/03/the-expressivo-by-feliks-audio/ so this isn't my amp I think?

The Mjolnir 2 sounds like a good option, how does it affect the bass?
