Seriously, if you're willing to travel a little maybe you can check one somewhere in the US or buy blindly i dunno, you can always sell used, never seen a lot, you should have no problem selling it used. Usually people keep their Manley stuff.

I will never recommend to spend $5k blindly. Try to see where is your closest Manley dealer to arrange an audition. Even if you have to spend $200-300 on a plane ticket, that worth it.

Just my €0.02, good luck.

Interesting idea. I found a pretty informative review of the Manley headamp/preamp here:

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...mp-6-2004.html

It would be very interesting to swap in some 'real' 300B tubes as well as better rectifier tubes, etc from stock Sovtek 300B. I'll bet something like AVVT, KR 300B would transform this preamp..

Hey you didn't read my EAT 300B "review"?

With the stock EH you're at 75-80% of the possibility of this preamp.

With the Sophia/TJ, things are getting a lot better, let say you're at 90-95%.

With the EAT it's shockingly good if i can say...110% no kidding, try it for yourself with the best source you can afford.

Ah, I remember that EAT review. Manley Labs is like 20 minutes from where I live, and I did visit their factory before. They have an AKG K501 hooked up to every tech's workstation over there
