So, my client was listening to a B22 that I built for him, and he remarked that the soundstage was very narrow on a particular binaural recording. I listened and agreed with him(I've heard it and the soundstage is wider on my pimeta). I just built it and its only been running for 3 hrs or so...

Thoughts?

(the amp is working correctly, I believe, we both noted the extreme detail and clarity)

Even on other CDs?

Could be the recording, unless the CD is known for its great soundstage.

Is it two, three, or four board configuration?

3 board- source is my modded XFI- other recordings sound similar

I have to agree. When I heard one at the last Bay Area Mini meet the amp definitely was very transparent and did have a sound stage to it. That said, undoubtedly, a reference level amp needs a reference level source.

As I recall, this thing has a better soundstage than even the dynahi.... it had the best soundstage of any SE amp I've ever tried.... it must be the source.

Sound stage and other aspects can be created since we're dealing with perception. It's always possible a cheap amp can sound "better" in certain regards aspects if you tweak it right. Maybe you need to revisit parts components on the B22.

I agree that a better source might be a good idea, but the fact that they compared a PIMETA to the Beta 22 and the soundstage was found to be lacking makes me think there might be something wrong with the Beta 22.

your amp is broken. Please send it to a technically competent DIYer to get it fixed

spot on

turns out i'm having channel separation issues. when i switch the input(via volume control on my comp) all to the right or all to the left, it sounds exactly the same

Sounds like you've got the input wired wrong, check your ground and signal connections and make sure you don't have one of them reversed.
