Today, I took a listen to the B&W Duo, a pair of wireless active speakers of which I read some nice reviews.

Since many years, I've been a fan of B&W. It started in 1997 when I had the opportunity to listen to the 801 coupled with the TAVA8ES still under development in a Sony audio room in Shibaura technology center.
The decoupled tweeter on top caught my attention first. Then the pure, punchy bass, not too heavy, not too shallow.

First, the almost nill playback latency of playback got my attention. Of course, at this level of performance, that's what you'd expect. But it's still nice to notice.

Then, came my disappointment. The absence of reflex ports on the B&W Duo has put the mid-bass responsibility on the drive units solely. Though the B&W engineers could achieve a clean sound at the low frequencies, it became much tighter than on the 800 series and shallower.

I'll stick to wires for now.

Anybody took a listen to the Duo?
