Dear community:
 
I am intrigued about this software Etymotic offer, AWARENESS: using cellphone mic to block/cancel external noise. I've been looking for some time anything similar. I understand is nothing new, but it could be really handy instead of carrying noise cancelling headphones.
Anyone tried the app already?

It's more like the opposite of noise-cancelling. ER calls it programmable noise isolation.
 
I guess it just records outside noise/sounds using the mic and mixes it together with the music you're listening to.
That way you're not completely isolated from the stuff that's going on around you.

I registered already to unlock the app... too bad, i was hoping to be exactly the opposite. My dream of killing noise cancelling headphones industry is down....

Unfortunately it only works on some app capable iDevices.
