How do we insure we are getting the new metal headband?
Those that have the serial number above HP000600 are updated with metal straps. In Europe Thomann sells them updated in metal and they have spare parts made to order.

I'm confused about what part is metal now that was once plastic? Does someone have a picture of either? In plastic form or metal?

I would like to announce that the Avantone Planar has finally arrived. They are beautiful and sound very good, these have the robustness of a tank.
The straps you see are not ordinary steel that you can test with a small magnet. I recommend applying pressure with your fingers as in the photo. These straps are absolutely stiff, comparable to a knife blade.
The problem of constantly unscrewing screws has also been solved, they are now perfectly locked. With these upgrades the Avantone Planar are set to last for many years.

Allego questo EQ che è simile a quello dell'Oratory ma con più sub bass - bass e meno medi bassi. Per il momento mi piace molto.:xf_eek:nda:

I enclose this EQ which is similar to Oratory's but with more sub bass - bass and less lower mids. For the moment I like it a lot.
Ooooo haven't tried this yet but I am liking that you had the same idea as mine. I felt the Avantone Planar didn't need its mid bass to be touched but sub bass could do with a little lift. Great thinking, I'll give this eq a go 😁👍

Hi,
I‘ve read all the positive things about the Planar here and bought one for mixing and mastering in my homestudio. I want to really like it and it is definitely good for mixing bass, that I can’t hear with my 5 inch Yamaha studiomonitors. I liked it and got used to it‘s sound. After 3 or four month the headband broke and I got a new one from Thomann. I lost the faith in it since then and really considered selling it for a Sundara or 660s. Please convince me to keep it 🙈. The headband Probleme seams relatively common as I can read in some reviews.
Easiest solution is to mod it with sufficient headband padding (the tabs holding the headband in place breaking off might be a blessing in disguise) - the cups lay flatter to the ear afterwards + comfort is much improved- I'll post a picture/simple solution in a few days

I think I should only hold it from the metal brace From now on. I did not pay special attention to that until now. It’s just strange cause I really love the neutral sound, but the headband is a weak point I think. It broke during normal use. I didn’t force anything.
Considering how often you need to tighten the screw the yoke to the drivers ever so often and are liable to holding it there - it's honestly a design flaw 🙄

My first Avantone Planars bought on Amazon had the plastic straps and the screw problem. Avantone in current production has solved the problem of both unscrewing screws and metal straps. (see above). I recommend buying them online in a specialized store.

:bomb: Now they should resist the delfragration, if that's not enough we can e-mail them, telling them to update them with certified detonation test:bomb:😁

Anyone know if we should contact the moderators for title correction?

I was trying the DT1990 Pro today, comparing them with the Avantone Planar and, oh, boy... Do the Planars run circles around the DT1990 Pro or what?
The fullness, the natural timbre, depth, detail... I don't see any reason other than comfort I would prefer the DT1990 Pro over the Avantone Planars.

Absolutely agree. Did you try the Planar with eq and then compare to the DT1990 Pro? It does all you said but then more. Imaging, transients, pure clarity, low end slam, insane detail. An extremely good headphone the Planar is 😁, I use them daily and mine I still looking like new since day one
