When I turned on my computer this morning I noticed that I was having serious distortion on the left channel from my Chaintech AV-710. This distortion persists from all sources. It sounds like severe digital clipping, and is definitely present only in the left channel. Lowering the volume does not affect the amount of distortion, only makes it quieter along with the audio. So far I've tried switching media players (I normally use Winamp), and uninstalled and reinstalled the Via drivers.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this?

rollback your drivers. this should fix your problem.
i'm guessing what you did was run windows update, saw that there was an updated driver for the Envy24 chipset and decided "why not?" and "updated" the drivers. well that's what i did and i got distortion for all my troubles. grrr....

anyway, all i did was rollback my drivers and no more distortion. i used the drivers recommeded here:

(look under tweaks)

...And if the driver thing does not work, open up the computer and push and move the card, just in case it is a connection problem.
