For some of my favorite cds (Gladiator for example) I use Moneky's Audio as a compression format instead of MPC. I use EAC to ripp cd's to .wav and then use the MAC program to turn the .wavs into .ape. However, when i do this I must tagg all of the .ape files manually. Is there a way to auto tage .ape files (using something like freedb would be prefferd). This question is probably easily answered, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Thanks.

You can set up Monkey's Audio to auto-tag. There are instructions in the help file, but they are confusiong.

Go under options, and then tagging.

I have EAC set up to output my wavs like this:

C:\CD-Rips\Artist - Album\Artist - Song Name.wav

ok, here's how it works, so get the song name into the tag, I put %2 into that area. To get the Album, I put in %%2. To get the Artist, I can either put %2 or %%1.

Basicly, the number of %s that there are tells MAC the general area to look in

%=the file name
%%=The directory
%%%=the directory before that
ect.

Then the number afterwards tells MAC exactly where to look, useing hyphens as guides.

1= the part before the first hyphen
2= the part after the first hyphen, but before the second (if one exists)
3=the part after the second hyphen, but before the third
ect.

Sorry this doesn't help with stuff you have already ripped, but it acctually seems to be quicker to re-rip and encode with the tags than to edit all the tags manually. Any questions, PM me.
