First, thanks to boxster for organizing the meet. I really enjoyed it.

I really liked the lcd-3 (and lcd-2c) for the bass and overall neutrality.

I also really liked the sr-009 for its imaging capabilities.

and thanks to the person who brought the tapes, and the many different types of stax at the meet. It was cool listening to all of the different stax.

I'd like to thank Austin Audio for hosting the event, was about as ideal a venue as you could want for a headphone meet with a 'small' group. Three hours is simply not enough time though - at least five to six hours would be more ideal. Didn't even have much time to look around Austin Audio to see what all they had much less only listening to half of what I wanted to.

And Boxter233, thank you for setting up this meet - was nice going to another meet after a while not attending one.

Finally got to compare a L700 (thanks for bringing it QwertyQmin!) to my modded L300 Limiteds and on my system. They are pretty similar overall, but there are differences. The L700 is a little smoother and a tad bit more resolving. The modded L300 Limited is snappier/punchier and has more low end subbass presence.

Jesse (Rally555), seems you liked the Project Ember amp with 6CG7 tube with your reel to reel setup... only wish I had a chance to hear reel to reel (never have). By the time I was setup and ready to hear other systems you were packing up early and getting ready to head out. Maybe another time.

Heard the Focal Elegia, was interesting but definitely has a kind of closed in/boundary feel compared to my TH-X00's. Was a precise, neutral kind of sound...and I was running it on my Project Ember with Mullard 12AT7 tube and preferred EQ profile. It sounded nicely detailed but slightly flat... not bad, but not my preferred type of sound.

Didn't realize an SR-009 was actually at the event until it was too late. I've always wanted to hear one on my system, have only ever heard one on a base STAX driver setup and I actually liked it better than a 007 MK2 I heard on a Gumby/Carbon CC setup at the same meet years ago. But I've heard a 007MK2 (QwertyQmin's from last Houston meet) on my setup and actually prefer it over my L300 Limited (and I liked my L300 Limited over the 007 MK2s I've heard on the other system mentioned. The 007 MK2 on my system has more lowend presence, punch, and better resolution than the L300 Limited.

And I'm curious to hear from anybody that heard the Kaldas RR1s - what are your thoughts on them? I'lI definitely be modding the earcup hinge on them... machine off that excess overhang that digs into the cups when the screw comes loose and make a custom strap. Soundwise they are fine to me, though I do prefer my L300 Limiteds.

Also, nice meeting you and talking for a little bit chandleryesfriends and LadderB.

Overall, was a very nice meet - just wish it wasn't so short. Thanks again Boxter233 for setting it up! I would not mind attending a future one, would be nice to have it be a bit longer though.
