I was searching for a thread on this and couldn't find one. So I figured I'd make one to hear people's thoughts on this.

AuricSound ESS Sabre32 Single 32bit DAC - $164~
AuricSound ESS Sabre32 Twin 32bit DAC - $254~

Thanks! Looks very promising, but it all comes down to how they implement the Sabre chips - there's the risk there. But the price/value seems great overall.

This popped up as a “suggested post” on my Facebook feed today... Specs v price is unbelievable. I’m looking for something like this but as @Denio said, it’s got me a little worried. Not sure if I should take a punt on it or not.

but it all comes down to how they implement the Sabre chips

EDIT: Just realised they already had a Kickstarter for this, the like I found was for the Indirgogo - https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/auricsound-twin-ess-sabre-32bit-es9028q2m-dac/x/1049001#/

I am more curious about the balance headphone out. Asked technical details but the maker seems to beat around the bush. All I know till now is it has 6x TI 6210 OpAMPs (according to the maker) and can drive upto 600ohms. I was shopping around for DIYing a 2.5mm balanced cable for HD650 but now feel something is not right. Why hide details?

What happen to that?
Some years later than expected... with specs that seems not maintained. Or not re-confirmed, now that... after a couple of yrs it SEEMS (hope) the PHA is going to be shipped (but the usb-c seems disappeared, idem for hdmi pass-through... and dunno if the "good old and discontinued" Sabre 9018 has been updated to the last pin-compatible DAC family).

I'm a prolific Kickstarter and indiegogo patron. About 75% of tech crowdfunding projects disappear or are so delayed and underwhelming that I have to remind myself never to back anything tech related. I've missed some cool stuff, but when i add in the money I lose on junk or unfulfilled projects, it is cheaper to purchase at full retail.

BTW, playing cards and at books are the most reliable projects to back. Followed by table top games.
