Hi HugoBoss

Thanks for the reply!
I meant to say optical not RCA...been a very long day!

Did you notice improvement to the CD player sound quality with the S16

Which other Dac have you had to compare the S16 to. Is this Dac worth usd 599 or could I find better for that price

i have 3 dac

chord hugo around 2300 usd
centrance mini cx around 700usd

aune s16 beat centrance but lose a bit to hugo.
i dont have any cd player only use computer as source connect with usb.

these aune in my opinion is the best dac under 700usd now . i have tried 5 or 6 dac around these price . this is the best

hey friends:

I join the thread, this DAC sounds very interesting as an all in one.

What I look at would be the following:

I have a studio monitors, JBL LSR 305, the need to connect XLR, I serve this aune s16?

Work fine at 192kHz under USB? , and how it works with windows 7?

At the same time, I would like the "DAC" work with monitors and headphones, is this possible?
How powerful the amplifier ?, could with some orthos? come from a Matrix mstage, hd 650 and  AKG K340 electrostatic, which are a nightmare to amplify.

Greetings from Mexico.

Works fine at 384kHz under USB, so 192 is easy. i using it under windows7 and no problems. work with monitors and headphones, but you can change volume with aune only for headphones, for XLR or unbalanced outs aune can't change volume.

Thank you very much.

And that such amplifying section ?

Be sufficient for a " hifiman  500" or a Audeze LCD 2 Fazor ?

How about working with IEMS?, and last but not least , what is your Output impendace in Ohms?

Sorry for my bad english.

Cheeers!!

You can read this : http://www.head-fi.org/t/740376/review-aune-audio-s16-single-box-dac-and-headphone-amplifier.
I have a LCD-XC and Aune S16 can ampli it without problem, but is not as good as the Dac, so if you have money a good dedicate amp will be better.

owatito with IEMS i hear background noise. i don't have tools to measure Output impendace. i'm ok with your english.

Thanks for your answers friends.

Gungstar, the background noise is very audible??, the noise is coming to play music, or coming to background??.

Aune s16 is a very good choise, keep the eye in this post.

when no music it very audible

Aune s16 doesn't have a gain switch? Hmm seems like it may not match well with IEMs. I only plan on using the Aune S16 for a DAC so I don't think this should be an issue

No gain switch on board the S16. I used it with a few IEM's without an issue ....Havi B3 Pro being one of them.  I think it is fine for all but the most sensitive ones.

I am honored with testing S16 for some short time. What I can say - that I am amazed with this DAC/AMP - and I am owning D200 for some time - so thinking about the price tag - roughly equal or just about, depending on the vendor - they sould play in the same leauge. Now I do not considder myself as knowing much or any sort of a specialist - so it is my private opinion. The differences between D200 and S16 are not huge, but listenable from the first moment. D200 plays closer, S16 goes wider with each sounds, more indirect and a bit more spatial. S16 focuses a little bit more on the soundstage and the space in music, D200 is a little bit more about the tonality and straight to the ears. The AMP in S16 - driving well all the cans i own. No problems to drive DT150, PRO900 od DT770 250 Ohm. What I would like to say - that I am in particular amazed with the synergy between S16 and ATH-A700X - that is just amazing sound for my ears. Hope it will help somebody on the fence. And yess - I am loving the sound od S16, but can't say what is better D200 or S16 - depends on that what You expect.

Would anybody like to describe the holographic sounding of S16? What setups yous think that you are getting the best of 3D sounding? What cans are the favourite among others?

Got S16
I like it quite well as a hp dac/amp combo

But I wonder can it be used with active speakers when connected via XLR cables? Can I regulate the speaker volume with the big black knob?
