Hey guys, I need a pair of closed cans and have narrowed it down to the ATH-A700 and the ATH-ES7. I haven't found many reviews on them, but I will continue searching. If anyone can give me some help or point me in the recommendation. In the meantime, cast your vote! Thanks

Thanks Frodo. It's interesting to hear the ES7 has better SQ. How is the soundstage difference and positional audio in games, if you have any experience? How about comfort-wise?

ATH-A700 based solely on my owning a pair and being happy for the money.

I have no experience with the ES7.

Hello berndawg3,
First, I'd like to mention that my opinion regarding SQ is based on A-Bing at the store. I own ES7, but not A700 (I have AD700 though). I don't play games much, so I cannot comment on positional audio, but I can tell you ES7's soundstage is not so wide. Comfort-wise, A700 should be better with 3D Wind Support. ES7 has quite strong clamping force (and it is supra-aural) thus it takes some time to get used to it.

Thanks Frodo, appreciate your input on real-world experience. I didn't realize the ES7s were supra-aural, so that really sways me to the ATH-A700s, since I really want circumaural.
