Had my AD700s for what feels like 10 years. Love em. Drive them with a Xonar U7 external card. Here's the issue:

My pads are worn out. They don't make the AD700s anymore, now they make the AD700x. The 700x are nowhere near as comfortable as the 700s. They feel like cheap plastic. The 700x also squeeze my head like a grapefruit, the earpad is smaller (tighter on my ear) and part of my ear actually bumps up against the internal (the driver?). It doesn't have that nice "just sits on top of my head" feeling of the AD700. Almost feels like it's squeezing like a closed-back headphone.

Are the 900x or 1000x Audio Technicas any more comfortable than these AD700x? Anyone know where I can just get some replacement pads for my good old AD700s? I'm in dire straights and feel hopeless.

Hmm, I've worn the AD2000X and AD500X. I wouldn't say it gets more comfortable rather than the build quality gets better.

I see some replacement pads on ebay from Japanese sellers. They are fairly pricey. I definitely wouldn't recommend Chinese knock offs though.
