I need to install a new headphone jack on my AD900X headphones. How does one work with and strip this wire? All I see is the outer shield and some white looking inner insulation. I can't even see the conductor wires in the cable! (I had to pull out my 100mm macro lens just to see what was going on). Help!

Wires are insulated, not nice to work with. Depending on your equipment – you can use soldering pot, or solder flux and iron with hot solder. Some smoke and smell occurs – there's plastic involved.

White thing is rope to structurally strenghten tiny wire. It might be possible to separate it and cut shorter.
