Does anyone know of any documented experiments that show reduced BER on USB transactions in high EMI environments or deliberately induced noise where signal integrity was substantially impacted?

Are there any alternative products (aside from a properly built, shielded USB cable) that have been proven to lower BER?

I'm not really concerned about whether or not bit errors can introduce audible artifacts or degredation. The engineer in me wants the best lab measurable performance, regardless of whether or not I can hear the difference.
