There is this DJ/Producer I found called TheVinyl.ist.
In fact, I met him on a vinyl shopping spree in Amsterdam. We struck up a conversation about music. He told me what he did, I listened to it. Amazing!
He gave me a stick with one of his mixes on as a reference quality AIF file on the condition that I promote his latest mix on social media if I liked it. Listening to his mixes through my AK240 through an Icon Audio pure triode headphone amp on my Beyerdynamic T1s... Acoustic heaven. Seriously. I love it and even if he hadn't asked, I'd be raving about it.
It's techno, trance, hip-hop, jungle, garage, lo-fi, reggae, dub. So, he trawls vinyl shops, buys up obscure pieces from them, records them back into a professional studio and then uses parts of them to build what he describes as a shifting acoustic sculpture.
Places to listen to:
06:30 - great sonic wall
35:00 - massive transparent dub bass
52:00 - just a great mellow groove.
1:24:00 - amazing ribbons of sounds
Never heard anything quite like it before.
