From my read of the Gizmodo article, Dre an Iovine went with a different OEM/ODM than Monster was using.

1. Firstly, I stand corrected, Steve Eddy - and thanks for the sensational link
2. Secondly, kudos to Sam Biddle for elucidating this fascinating tale from, seemingly, the very people that had exhibited such extremely poor judgement. While most people I know would have said, "no comment" he gets a whole lot more.
3. Finally, with regard to the article, there are no doubt some embellishments and possible intentional misleads - one of which could be the bit about who makes the fabulous Beats. Believe whomever you will, I find the dvw post intriguing.
