Audiofly AF180 Performance Series Impression&Appreciation Thread

Thanks once again Jonyoo - will be interesting how long it will take for them to kick the extra cable out.

I cracked the mic housing on my AF78m and when I was contacting AF about the warranty replacement they have this response on 24th June 2014 regarding the ClearTalk cables.

"The AF180s are now available and initially were going to have an optional cable accessory with an apple inline mic and remote. Unfortunately global demand for iPhones and related accessories has dropped significantly. We are now investigating a single button remote (like the one on the AF78M) for the AF180 cable but this is not yet in production so no ETA available on that product just yet."

I figure since the cables are modular it'd be an ideal after market option for them so I'm certainly going to keep pushing for it.

Software engineers have plenty of disposable cash and desire high quality audio to get in the zone. The best part of the AF78m is that I can take Skype calls without switching headphones or having to put on a bulky set of cans with a boom mic. Looks 100x more professional with the AF78m.

Can anyone please compare the AF180 to the Shure 535? I've listened to both but I was hooked on the 535, but I'm not sure anymore, will have to test them both again.

The Shures have more a wow factor but the AF180 are more interesting. I can't believe I payed $520 for the AF180, but I did. They used to amaze me in store, but not sure right now. Crystal clear sound, considering getting rid of headphones all together. Bearing in mind right now I'm using silicone tips. Need to burn these in, plus get a better source than this iphone.

well i can certainly see that the you may not find them "wow" as monitor type sounds tend to be un dramatic and lack the attention grabbing drama of more excitable things.

could it be your looking for some more wild?

I let the BAs warm up a bit from use and while they might not be jaw dropping wow, I hear every gasp from vocals and the staging is near perfect. I'm just fussy coming from V-MODA headphones, which are very good.

Soundstage is a 400/10. It's beatiful.

Okay, 4 hours into these. They get better at every listen. It's kind of scary. Comparing the SE215 to this, I wonder why the hell I bought the SE215. Waste of money, the AF180 are the only way to go. In my opinion everyone should have a quad or Tri BA. Avoid dynamic drivers if you want realistic sound (unless the dynamic is tuned only for bass)
I feel compelled to write a review for these. They question almost all my audio purchases to date.
