I'm kind of curious in what would happen if I connect my Audioengine A2's right passive speaker directly to an speaker amplifier instead of to its left (powered) speaker? I would assume it would work but would I damage it?

Not unless you turn it up so loud that you over drive (it starts distorting).

However, it might sound very bass light. Audioengine has some EQ built in their amp to artificially boost the bass.

i went to look at the specs; 15W RMS / 30W peak per channel and the Input impedance is 10K ohms unbalanced. Is the impedance rating different that the impedance rating you see with passive speakers and a/v receivers? Because I ususally see ratings like 2, 4, 6, 8 ohms, not 10k ohms.

The input impedance is for the amp. They don't provide the speaker impedance because the set is not designed so that you can hook them up to a different amp.
