The AV40's headphone out is quite good. Listening to HD600 and DT770 at around 9-10' possibly designed for high impedance monitors.

I've been doing more listening, trying to gauge the A2's more. When I compare them to a pair of Kef IQ1 bookshelf speakers running through a Marants 2270 amp the difference is primarily in the soundstage, the A2s definitely feel smaller.

That said, the bookshelfs do not really do what they should do at nearfield listening levels - their positioning gets thrown off.

i should also say - Bass wise the A2s do pack a punch considering their size. There's an air vent at the bottom and it's strong enough to throw paper across my desk
