My AudioEngine A2 left speaker has small problem due to one of its electrolytic capacitor leaked. I am little bit surprised that audioengine used those capacitors manufactured by TWBOR/TBOR so I planed to replace them all.

Two questions need help:
(1) One problem I am facing is how to deal with those black glue/epoxy kind of thing to seal again after my repair is done. Is there any folks here know what it is? I found Chemicals Black - Epoxy Potting and Encapsulating Compound 1:1 ( https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/MG-Chemicals/832HD-25ML?qs=YCa/AAYMW026Q7%2BUuq7QFQ== ), not sure whether we have any better choice.

(2) I see some posts online indicated the SOIC8 chip is NE5532. Can I replace it with OPA2604/OPA2134 or "twoOPA627 with adapter"? I was considering OPA2828 but not sure whether I can find adapter to convert HVSSOP (DGN) | 8 to SOIC8.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Black goo is usually hot glue. Taking it of is a massive pain in the rear.
If you want to blindly change the opamp, then get LM4562. It is a direct upgrade of the NE5532, same type, same voltages. Is available in SOIC.

Thanks very much for the info!

The black goo makes me little bit worried once I open the back of the circuit board.

Never tried LM4562, will order some from mouser then test.

You're welcome. Don't be afraid, black goo is just annoying to deal with. Check out YouTube, there should be some videos on how to get rid of it.
Mouser is a great place to shop, but you have to reach a certain amount in the cart to get free shipping.
