Hey people how are you!
 
Let us get straight to it. I have recently bought a PX22 to use on gaming. However, I also (kinda) wanted to use it for listening to music. Turns out that without using the amplifier that came with the PX22, the sound is not that good in my opinion. I have heard of the Audio Technica M50's lately and I heard they were awesome for listening to music.
 
So here are my questions to people both owning the PX22 and M50's:
 
- Which one is better and why. Maybe it sounds almost the same? (purely the headphone, not the mic of the PX22, I know M50 does not have a mic).
- If you use the amplifier on the PX22, can you achieve a similar sound to the M50's or perhaps even better?
- Could you test out some electro/dance/dubstep songs for me and see which headphone sounds better?
 
I know I am asking much and I understand if you do not want to spend the time on this, but if you are willing to spend a few minutes on it then I would really appreciate it

I have heard the X12's (Xbox version) and they're pretty bad. Most gaming headsets are pretty bad for music, and sometimes even gaming as they are marketed to the gaming crowd, and this hikes up the price significantly. In fact, even the budget Sony MDR7506's will smash those. I would recommend the V-moda M80's (a bit bassy) for your listening tastes. I have the M50's and while they are decent for the price, they are also incredibly uncomfortable, I can only listen to them for 30 minutes max.
 
In conclusion, there is no comparison, you will never be able to make the PX22 sound better than any decent headphone, it just isn't possible, at least from what I've heard of the 12's and the 22's are almost the same.

It is just that I never actually heard a high quality headphone so that is why I wanted to know which one would be better .
Oh really the M50's are uncomfortable? That really is too bad. I watched Marques Brownlee review on YT and he was just blow away by it and so I thought they were amazing.

Do you have any other headphones to sugges in that price range $0-$175 (The best ones in that class). I will check out the buying guide but I would still like to know!

I have them and they got a lot of bass even without the mixer. I haven't heard good things about Turtle Beach. If you really plan to game I recommend you the SLYR headset, you can get them on Amazon for 60-70 bucks and they're pretty good for the money, the only bad thing I can tell is that there are a little background white noise when the headset is connected in the mixer, but you can only hear it in very high volume levels. For your taste in music you need some bassy heaphones, so, for the money I recommend you that.

I actually want to use the headset I want to buy for just listening to music . I got the turtle beaches now for just $60. So for just listening to music you suggest the M50's against the PX22's huh, alright thank you! GaryWA however said that they were uncomfortable?

I also own the philips-she8000 which are IEM. They sound good but how do they sound compared to the M50 or any headphone in the $150 range?
