Got me some Audio-Technica Pro700s for under $100 US shipped. Can't wait to hear what they sound like! Headfi's cost me like $400 in the last month.

Yeah, I've seen those ATH-ANC7 at the Mac store here where I live. They were priced the same as the Sony MDR-NC60 which were also in stock there. I do know that the ATH-ANC7 is rated at 250 ohm, I'm curious as to how they sound.

The ANC7 sounds much like a stock HD580, very un-AT like but very nice for their price. I am enjoying my new AT-ESW9s better though right now. I like their more transparent sound, full bass and open mids. They sit very light and I can lay back in my easy chair with my head braced against a pillow and fall asleep very easily. Exactly what I wanted with the ESW9. For myself except for the soundstage I think the ESW9s are very W5000 like and the ESW9s are very portable.

ESW9s have warmer sound than W5000s, haven't?

Did I say that? BYW, what does the last word mean in the statement? "haven't"

You might be right since I have not directly compared them. More of what I was getting at is the quality of the sound out of them. It is very high. I think the quality of the sound out of the W5k is high as well. The warmth is also a function of which amp you may be using.

I have both W5000 (with Fitz mod), and ESW9s. ESW9s imo have warmer sound out from my Corda Opera.

and I agree the quality of their sound are great.

M50s the OP want to know lean to W5000 side, but the SQ is nowhere near W5000.

Thanks for the reply’s.
I understand the M50’s are well received studio headphones, detailed accurate and as someone put it, polite. I like that in a headphone.
I do business with AT and bought a slew of product from them, gave most away as gifts but I have lots left over.
Several pairs of M50’s and about a half dozen ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint’s that I will be selling soon. I’ll post them here if anyone is interested.
I also have a couple of T44’s and a half dozen AT150MLX MM phono cartridges.

But I was most interested in choosing some to keep for myself. I think I’ll break open a pair of M50’s for myself.

Thanks again!

I enjoy the M50's. They are my rainy/snowy day headphones when I don't want to wear my Grado RS-1's outside. I used to use Sony MDR-V6's for these purposes but find the bass on the M50's faster and more rhythmic.
