Hi

I am trying to find out which pair out of these two headphones would be the better choice for me. I only listen to rap and hip-hop. Which pair would sound the best with my genre of music?

Both are good for rap.

Depends how much detail you want in your music. M50 have much more detail than the sony and also have lots of bass.

The sony is pretty much just a bass lovers headphone. Mids and highs are incredibly withdrawn. Imagine someone playing loud bass heavy music in their room with their door closed and you're in the hallway. That's how they sound.

The sony often goes on sale and you can find it just about anywhere. Even walmart (which often have them for display and you can listen to them if you bring your phone or some kind of audio player with you). Much cheaper than the M50.

M50 is big and uncomfortable. Sony is very comfortable.

These two headphones are apples and oranges.

Why these two?

If you aren't adverse to ordering on-line, I'd have a look at the Takstar Pro 80 or Gemini HSR-1000. They are the same headphone, but are often priced differently.
