I currently have 7506's and use them for dj'ing but I want to upgrade to the ATH-M50's, problem is I have no way of listening to them before I buy ahead of time.

If someone who has heard both or has both of here can tell me if the ATH-M50 has more low end or a more boomy low end then the 7506's?

Also are the high's on the ATH-M50's not as harsh as the 7506's?

Thanks.

Well, I have both the Sony 7506 and a similar Audio Technica (ATH-PRO5 MS)

And the Audio Technica has less sharp highs than the SOny, and noticably more bass, especially upper-mid-bass.

If you're looking for a durable DJ can with lots of bass, and smoother, more laid back highs than the Sony, I'd recommend the ATH-PRO-5 MS

Thanks for the info and reply alpha80.

Anyone else compared the ATH-M50 to the 7506's? I need to make sure before I blind order them.

Agree with alpha80, lots of bass and bit less sharp highs.
Not an upgrade from 7506, just a different headphone, more musical and fun, keeping the studio perspective.

IMHO, the ATH-M50 is a clear upgrade, especially in the mids (fuller) and the low highs or maybe the upper mids (not harsh). The bass quantity may be the same, but it sounds more natural on the M50 (maybe because it's less disjointed from the mids). Overall the ATH-M50 sounds much more balanced and musical than the 7506 which sounds cold, digital and harsh.
