I owned DT-770 pro 80, I currently own DT-770 2005 250 ohm and a coworker of mine has the M50.
The M50 is portable while DT-770 is not. M50 will drive fine from a laptop or a portable player; for any version of the DT-770, you will need and amp. The bright side of that is that both Fiio E3 and E5 worked fine with me. DT-770 isolated a lot better than M50. You get massive isolation with Pro 80 and very good with 2005. The M50 isolates but not that much. For sound quality, M50 is brighter and more balanced than Pro 80, that is, Pro 80 is a bass monster, which I think is pretty good for rap. The 2005 version has just a bit more bass than the M50; it's a very well balanced can that has better sound quality on the whole spectrum.
I think you can sum it up like that: for portability, go M50; for bass or isolation, DT-770 pro 80; otherwise, you will never regret a pair of DT-770 2005 250.
