Hi,

I'm trying to choose between the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 and  Beyerdynamic DT-1350-80 as my general purpose/travel headphones. Has anyone tried both? Would like to know which sound more neutral and would match well with a FiiO E12 amplifier & X3 combo. Or if anyone else has any other suggestions within the $200 dollar range that i can get these both at right now on Amazon. Thanks a lot in advance for any advice.

DT 1350 is a much more resolving headphone. I think it's a step up in class over the M50s.

DT1350 should not need the E12 with the X3. Has very good sensitivity. Easy to drive.

From a comfort viewpoint, the DT1350's earpads provide a good seal and for some reason, my ears don't get as sweaty with them compared to my ATH-M50s.

reference: I borrowed my colleague's DT1350's for a listening session, and it was awesome.

  Thanks for all the advice!

I've never listened to the Beyer DT1350 80-Ohm, but I would pick a Beyer over the ATH-M50s.
I would assume the Fiio x3 can easily on it's own drive 80-Ohm headphones.
