im in the market for some new headphones and have been looking at both of these
 
from appearances they seem almost the exact same and the difference in price is ~$60
 
is the 60 price gap worth it?
 
im a budget guy
 
and i listen to mostly heavy metal but sometimes very melodic relaxed vocally based songs

These cans are not really on the same tier.  The 900X and Q701 would give you that.
 
However unlike the 700X, the Q701 needs an amp.  Further, you may or may not like it's sound signature.  The Q701 provides a large sound stage, allowing you to hear every musical voice but removes the slam from your music.
 
Neither has more than neutral bass (if even that).

ive got a little tube amp i like to use and if that dosent give enough power to the q701 my 600 ohm card should be enough
 
but ill prob get the q701
