I recently bought myself a set of Audio Technica AT-ADH700 headphones and am looking for something with good clean power. This is my first set of high-end headphones. I'm a newbie to home audio and headphones, but have a good background in car/mobile audio. Has anyone tried out the Audio Technica AT-DHA3000 or the Audio Technica AT-HA20? I was thinking about picking up an headphone amp below $300 to start off with. Eventually I'll make my way up to the tube amps. If anyone can offer me any advice or suggestions that would be great.

The Audio Technica DHA3000 should only be good with the Audio Technica L3000. HD650s sounded horrible out of the DHA3000.

I'm not sure if either replies helped me out in my search in an amp. I'm leaning a little bit more toward the AT-HA20 amp, although I heard great reviews about the AT-DHA3000. Would it really sound that much worse with lower model open-air cans?

Take Headmaster for a try. It's good for AT cans.

You realize the AT-DHA3000 is a $2000+ combined DAC/headphone amplifier?

It seems a bit out of your budget, at least relative to the other gear you're discussing.

Although seemingly a good idea, these headphone manufacturer amps enjoy limited application and difficult resale opportunitys.
