Since alot of people seem to have problems with hte durability of the pleather pads of the A500/A900 I wondered if it is possible to swap the pleather pads with the velour pads from the Air series.

If so you can buy a pair of ATH-AD300 for $59 (almost as cheap as replacement pads for A900) and have an extra pair of headphones, and when the pleather starts pealing off the A500/A900 you swap the velour pads from the AD300 with the pealing pleather pads.
Plus I have always found velour pads to be more comfortable for long listening sessions.

Put I haven't got the two headphones so I can't tell if the pads are interchangeable.

don't wear em so long that your ears get sweaty, stick to the pleather and rip them off your head, over time yeah, it'll rip the pleather apart. Be gentle with it and you'll be fine. Also let your ears breathe every hour and dry off if you have sweaty ears.
