I have a Turtle Beach X12 headset with a little built in USB powered amp. I've tried multiple USB sources, even plugging it into a separate outlet with a cell phone charger. No matter what it is plugged into I hear a soft fuzz, like white noise. Adjusting volume doesn't make a difference, in fact you can hear it without the audio cables plugged in (the 3.5mm stereo plugs). I doubt there is much I can do but hopeful someone ran into this and found a trick.
