When I'm using an output API on Windows such as ASIO or WASAPI that lets me choose buffer, and I set the buffer too low, can the resulting crackles and pops from this cause damage to my equipment, or is the only downfall the loss in quality due to artifacts? Surely it's not the same as amp clipping and distortion?

Thanks.

It won't hurt anything.

It will be fine unless you are playing the dodgy signal very loud, but even then i wouldn't expect any damage.
