Audinst HUD-MX1 vs. Little Dot DAC II (or MusicStreamer II)

sorry for bringing this thread back up...

but what do you guys think about this combo

audinst > audiotrak imamp ?

i heard the audinst is only adequate to drive k701s but i want something that can drive it wholesomely.

I would not bother with the audiotrak, in terms of power the MX1 has more.

MX1
Max load power: 800mW (32Ω, 5Vpp)

Audiotrak imamp
250+250mW@32Ω

alright thanks for that :).

you reckon my next course of action for an upgrade would be a proper full-sized amp? i.e. schiit asgard then?

god, i am looking at this and it is a similar dilemma with me (sorry for necrobumping :)

I was thinking the udac2 then I saw the audinst then I saw the maverick d1, dammit, it is just increasing in price with every look. any suggestions/comparisons/moral support? lol

right now I just have senn 555s and some UE triplefi's but I am going to get a fostex t50rp and do some modding (muahahahaha) so maybe keep that in mind

Reanimating this thread once more.

I am looking to go with this setup:

Macbook > HRT MS2 > Little Dot 1+ > Grado Labs sr325is

Will this pose a problem being that the HRT is powered by the laptop, even though the LD 1+ has it's own power source? Will I be able to drive the Little Dot adequately even if the DAC I'm using doesn't have an independent power source?

Would I be doing myself a favor going with something like the Audinst instead, or perhaps the Zero DAC?

Thanks for any input.
