I'm looking for a semi-portable USB DAC + headphone amp combo to use when I travel back and forth between school and visiting my parents.  It does not have to be USB powered (AC adapter is fine), and does not have to be very small (I usually drive my own car and plenty of room for luggage).

I was looking at the Audinst HUD-MX1, and at $179 it seems perfect for me.  Any idea how it works with the Beyerdynamic T1?

Any other DAC + amp combos that I should consider?  Preferably under $300.  I listen to all kinds of music, including classical, jazz, country, and pop.

(I'm currently using V-Link --> Rega DAC --> Luxman P-200 amp.  I bring this setup with me when I visit my parents, but it's a big hassle to disconnect everything and set things up when I get there.)

I use the mx1 with my HD600s and it works very well on low gain mode. I'm sure it will work very well with the T1 on high gain.

I've been reading about the Audio GD NFB-12 too, and it seems to be a better choice.  The NFB-12 is only about $50 more than the HUD-MX1.  But then there's also the wait time for the NFB-12.
