[partially from a post in a Headphone forum thread]

Apparently 24bit ASIO support for the Audigy 2 ZS is not yet available. ASIO works when setting foobar to 16bit and resample to 48khz, but is that going to be better than KS @ 24bit padded to 32bit and resampled to 96khz? Radar says use ASIO but I feel like KS might be as good or better, at least until moving to a chaintech av710.

EDIT: To get ASIO to work I had to install the Kx drivers. They Swap the front/rear outputs because supposedly the rears sound better. Different codecs or something. But you can't use KS with the Kx drivers. So Kx + rear outputs + ASIO(16bit / 48khz) or Creative drivers + front outputs + Kernel Streaming(24bit padded to 32bit / 96khz).

I wasn't aware that ASIO above 16/48 didn't work with the Audigy 2 ZS so you'd probably be better off with the Creative drivers + KS at 24(padded to 32)/96. And you might still be able to use the rear outputs with KS and Foobar2000 (use the Move Stereo to Rear Channels DSP).

But it's still better than resampling to 48KHz at 16-bits (which is unavoidable with Audigy cards anyways). And with KS at 24/96 or 24/192 it's bit-perfect (i.e. Creative's drivers/DSP leave the audio alone). Also, how is resampling in software inferior to Creative's hardware resampling?
