Do any of you own an Audial S5? I am seeking owner feedback on it's performance and characteristics.

I'm interested, but there's no home demo option and they don't accept returns. I really don't want to speculatively drop £2K on something I can't send back if it doesn't suit me or the rest of my system.

I am also keen to understand what the deal is with the optional transformer coupling for the RCA and XLR outputs. Can they both be coupled or must I choose?

Although not the S5, Hands from the best friends site provides a comparison of the model S with other NOS DACS.

Unfortunately, I've never heard one myself and eventually settled on a Metrum Pavane to meet my NOS curiosity.

Just an update on this. I have just ordered a new Audial S5 in black. Lead time is 30 days, so will post listening impressions when to hand. It'll feed my LTA MZ3 via RCA and either Ferrum Oor stack or Bliss (when I make my mind up) by XLR.

Hello Matt,

It was shipped this week and should arrive on Wednesday. There was an issue with QC on my black chassis, so it had to be redone.
