Audeze Penrose X still working on PS5?

Our official stance is:

Though Penrose X is currently compatible with PlayStation (by moving the slide switch on the side of the dongle), we cannot guarantee this will always be the case. The respective dongles use different chipsets and different firmware, so just because the Penrose X dongle currently works with PlayStation, you should not expect this to continue indefinitely. Additionally, there may be some functions that are not supported across platforms. Therefore, we still recommend Penrose for use with PlayStation, Mac, Switch, Windows, and Penrose X for use with Xbox and Windows.

Thank you for the information. :)

@Audeze Is it possible to purchase a separate Xbox dongle and pair it with the Penrose headphones for PS5?

I would highly recommend NOT using multiple dongles per Penrose unit, as the process to pair the dongle each time you switch between one dongle to another is a lot more time consuming and a hassle in comparison to just moving the dongle from one place to another.

To iterate, instead of just unplugging a dongle and moving it to the next source you would have to:

  • 7xEVzL88ZH1piZkfSrzuM5Dp4
  • Power your Penrose ON. Long-press the Multi-Function Button and you should hear the “pairing” voice prompt, which should be followed shortly by “connected.”
  • In case the above doesn’t work, unplug the USB dongle from your source device. Then re-insert, making sure the dongle is fully inserted and its LED is blinking.
  • If you do not hear the pairing/connected voice prompts within several seconds, repeat the steps above.
Also, while it may function, we sell dongles by serial number and model type, so if you have a Penrose X, we would sell you Penrose X dongle, and if you have a Penrose, we can sell you a Penrose dongle. The reason for this is due to limited number of dongles available, hence why it's not sold on the website and is mainly there for RMA and out of warranty purchases.
