The difference in cost is due to the proprietary Microsoft chip, Microsoft licensing costs, and Dolby Atmos license. It is also the more 'universal' of the two, though we still recommend the PS version for Playstation due to tweaks made in the PS dongle mode to utilize the hardware more eficiently (tuning, volume output, lower potential distortion on the PS console mode).

PS5 usb volume output can be low if an audio device isn't targeted to the system. This can lead to higher noise due to pushing devices harder, etc.
Really pleased you addressed this - bought so many devices to use across systems and found PS volume really low. Was all set to get the Xbox version but as PS is my main console I think I'll go for the PS version this time and just use a wire when I occasionally go on the Xbox!

Maxwelll uses an all-new reinforced chassis built with aluminum and steel. It is a completely new design.
it's obvious that the materials chosen and construction has been well studied while designing them and of course I prefer durable ones, but I'm a bit worry about feeling almost 500 gr over my head.. and can't stop asking me if it would not be too much for wearing them several hours. However I guess engineers have taken this into consideration and the headphones has passed so so many test

Will the Xbox version work on Playstation without an issue? Or is the PS dongle doing anything specific?
Ity will work in the same way Penrose X works on PS5. However as stated a few posts ago, PS version will be tuned to work more efficiently on PS5, meaning better volume levels, leading to less distortion, better tuning, etc.

What is the best one only for watching movies? I don't play games. Thanks
That entirely depends on your target console/system. Mobius has waves NX headtracking with 7.1 surroundwhich adds an extra level of immersion for movies, though it's focused on PC use.

Maxwell is an improvement across the board in most regards to the Penrose, and if on Xbox you can take advantage of included Dolby Atmos license, which really helps for movie watching on Xbox.

On PS5, Penrose and Maxwell can both utilize Tempest 3D audio, which is also beneficial for movie watching.

So really it's entirely dependent on platform.

So we'll be able to use Dolby Atmos spacial audio on PC with the PS5 version?
That is correct, assuming you already purchased a Dolby Atmos license which is not included with PS5 version.

It's good that we can acquire Dolby Atmos license with the PS5 version as well. With the license, can I use Maxwell with PC or iPad for Apple Dolby Atmos music? I'm excited for this launch.

Looks great. Good to see the FILTER technology trickling through to the headphone products. I'm still waiting delivery on my FILTER so can't comment on the environmental noise filtering.

Hopefully the headbands are built better on these than the Penrose and Mobius.

Are these the same drivers used in the Edifier Spirit S3?
These are own custom drivers, made in house.

Do you have measurements of the earcups openings?
65mm tall, 50mm wide, 30mm deep.

Why the move to a 90mm driver vs the Penrose 100m?

Can these benefit from a headphone amp over analog?
The active area is still same.

The reason for the change is because we have two earcups now. One internal and one external - dual earcup design. This helps with better acoustic design.

And as for amplification, we already have internal amplification, and would note that users should be very careful using other amplifiers. The analog input is not passive. It most go through an ADC conversion back to DAC. You can damage the headset by overwhelming the inner circuitry with too much power. So be mindful of amplifier output. You gain no real benefit using an external amplifier, and may actually introduce more noise into the audio chain.

1. Can you adjust headphone volume on PC from windows? (On penrose, you cannot)
2. What is the microsoft chip? Would it benefit me who will only use the headphones on windows? (You already stated to buy the ps5 version if I'm only going to use it on PC due to lower cost, I'm just curious about that chip)
