Had both and still have the MM…but just a listener here, no mastering or mixing involved.
Clear is lacking resolution/clarity in comparison to the MM. Bass is more impactful on Audeze being planar headphone.
And it’s recommended by this Marroquin guy if you need peer confirmation.
As a listener, MM500 deliver more detail information, more accurate decay, better imaging structure and timbre than Clear MG. I think it's supposed to be better for mastering.
Clear MG is like "fun sounding all day long" headphone for me. A bit dull on top that great for various mainstream recordings, lively punchy bass, with forward Vocal.
I just auditioned the Focal Clear Mg vs. the Audeze MM-500 at my local store. The dealer had a TOTL Moon streamer for my test.
The MM-500 is nearly twice the price, but it sounds way better all around. Much better bass definition. Better soundstage and isolation. Better than my Lcd-xc!
I am over 70 and sensitive to piercing treble (e,g no Miles Davis for me).
The MM-500 suit my ears
