If the cups where carbon fibre It'd be 10/10, but I still want one! Better than the God awful wood cups that keep cracking. But also a bit to close to the Rosson Audio - RAD style.

the pad shape suggests that seal seemed to be a priority. It’s a trade off between seal and serviceability. As long as I can get replacements for a long time, I don’t mind pulling harder every 3 years. There are no pads to chose from either so idc.

Maybe I’m weird but I actually like the glued on pads.

It ensures you’ll always have a perfect seal, and that the pads will always be in perfect alignment. Nothing bugs me more than when the seams on a pair of pads aren’t perfectly aligned.

Plus, with the quality of leather Audeze used the pads can last for very many years with proper maintenance.
yeah

its unacceptable imo at this price to glue on your pads

I know they are targeting weight savings, but without the Chrome accents, it doesn't look like a TOTL Headphone IMHO, but if it improves on the sound quality of the LCD4 I guess thats all that matters...

They have a magnetic system, right?

Focals pegs or Hifiman HE6 or Fostex’s mounting rings also work. I’m not sure if those provide as air-tight a seal as the glued on ones do though.

I really dislike the standard ‘lip around the inner edge of the pad goes around a flange on the headphone’ system though, the pads always tend to be able to rotate out of alignment with that.

Yes but it's pretty bulletproof

it’s kinda obvious that weight savings was the priority. the question is does it sound as good at 1/3 of the weight

Do these cylinders give a hint of magnetic pad fixation?
