Audeze LCD-4

Many thanks for the information.
I was referring to the report from KaiSc, who wrote here in the thread that it would come to €2000 in Germany, which is why he repaired his driver himself.
Perhaps @KaiSc can say something about this.
The adventurous story of my LCD-4 repair finally came to a good end, thanx to AUDEZE’s service‘s accommodation.

I even had to send the LCD-4 from Germany to US twice, as the first time it came back with one driver broken again.
My guess is, the drivers don’t like airmail, for whatever reason.
Or maybe just because packing wasn‘t great the first time.
There was no distancing piece between the cups to avoid air pressure built up with rough handling.

The communication with AUDEZE was A+, very friendly and as responsive as one could expect.
Probably for all the complications and time the process took, AUDEZE refunded me by not charging the regular full amount.

I’m very satisfied with the outcome, sound-wise the LCD-4 now is back to it’s full potential, and measures to specs, very close to where it originally started.

Good to hear you got your LCD 4 is fixed. Would you say it sounds the same as your old drivers or do you notice anything that stands out with the new drivers?

AUDEZE replaces the earpads with the drivers, and the ones I had were the old style with foam ring underneath, and quite used.

Within these limitations, and as A/B comparison isn’t possible, I couldn’t detect any audible differences.
The renewed LCD-4 has all qualities the old one had.
Listening to the same music tracks is as much joy and fun as before.

I did measurements before and after, which say the renewed is a tiny bit more balanced.
If there was a change then I would say to the better, into the direction I push an EQ when I occasionally use one.

Have you tried the (free) Audeze Reveal plug-in?

If your using a DAP for source you could download and use the app Wavelet for Android.... it will apply the oratory 1990 EQ automatically and you get to have a couple other sliders to fine tune the EQ... it makes EQing easy and works very well...

No i thought it only works with Foobar 2000 and Roon, but i use a variety of sourced like Qobuz, Apple Music, Youtube and my CDs. The Plug In is not flexible like the APO EQ
Smooth out meaning what exactly? I scoop out a section around 900Hz.
Like i said the Sound is quiet sharp. And the opposite from sharp for me is smooth. 980 Hz are - 2dB i dont think there is the issue.

I use it PC only

Sometimes I tend to skip over the important details, sorry. Was thinking you were using some type of software like Jriver, foobar etc. Burned all of my CDs, easy to apply the plug-in.

Yes i do but the Reveal Plug In cant be used in Apo so it dosent applied to all of my areas of application. The only solution I see is to adjust the EQ but I don't know which frequency it affects and in which steps I should adjust the value best

one more option for the Audeze Reveal plug-in is to use it with Jriver media center on your PC... you can download the free version of the Audeze Reveal plug-in and it will work with your LCD-4 ..

Has anyone tried Accurate Sound's convolution filters for the LCD-4?
