500+ Head-Fier
Good luck, I hope it works out well.I've asked for a partial refund, less work for everyone. They're apparently still deliberating.

I would have done the same. Those cracks look like age related cracks on the old varnish. Instead of removing the old layer someone just put on a new one. The headphones are probably fine, but not 'flawless'. I think, partial refund is a good and fair move.Yeah, I'd ask for a partial refund to reflect the defects and if the seller isn't accommodating, I'd get a refund and send them back. The LCD-4 aren't so rare that you'll never find another pair.
It's hard to tell the damage from the photos. Are they cracks and are they deep? If so, get a refund.
Well he kind of has to say good things. They do pay him for that time slot.Whilst I regret selling my LCD 4 and was looking to require one, the CRBN 2 just got announced and has become a priority for me.
Jude also mentioned in the Canjam preview video that it has the most detail of any Audeze headphone ever.
Anyone ever compare the original blue LCD-4 cable to the newer one?
My 2023 LCD-4 came with their newer Double braided cable and they simply just rock. I think the newer cable versions are some of the best stock cables Audeze has ever produced. The blue smurf cable from Locus Audio? I think it's pretty much unobtainable now. The salt and pepper current cable is a bit smoother and warmer sounding with a bit of graininess across the top end which really helps with the current Audeze house sound (LCD-5 and MM-500).
The blue cable is a better cable for the older Audeze house sound that ended with the LCD-4. It's a bit more detailed and resolving along the upper and the bass is a bit tighter. That same cable would end up too bright (at least for me) on the LCD-5 line.
I was also quite happy with the newer braided cable when I had my lcd-4. Rebought one after selling my original lcd-4 and got the blue cable with it. Although stiff and thick (never thought I'd use those words in an audio forum), it does sound quite good.My 2023 LCD-4 came with their newer Double braided cable and they simply just rock. Exactly. The standard Audeze cable that comes with their lower end models such as the LCD-X, LCD-2, MM100 are kinda meh, IMO but higher end audeze cable that are packaged with the LCD-5, LCD-4 and maybe the MM500 (maybe but not sure) are really great quality and sound much better than the standard ones.I was also quite happy with the newer braided cable when I had my lcd-4. I started with Audeze headphones in early 2021, when the main pad shift had already happened. I've very recently replaced a set of pads on my first set. However, you saying this makes me wonder if I should stockpile a few of the current design so that when I need to update again, I'll be able to keep my familiar signature going when my second set inevitably needs refreshment. I use the headphones for critical work, so intimacy with the signature is a high priority for me.Finally got around to replacing the pads from 2016. Took me around 90 minutes due to the badly designed Audeze moon adhesives - had to take a break and guzzle whiskeyThe sound is also quite different after changing the pads, didn't anticipate that.
Don't know if I like it more or less. The moon pads exhausted me, might have been the whiskey though, so only listened for about 20 min. It's without a doubt different. Need another couple listening sessions.I started with Audeze headphones in early 2021, when the main pad shift had already happened. I've very recently replaced a set of pads on my first set.
