Audeze LCD-4

I found the LCD4 really shines with a powerful amp. Not crazy power, but ability to supply current. It will get loud fairly easily but the amps control of the transducers really becomes apparent with comparison.

How do people here deal with the upper treble spike on their LCD-4? I'm always having difficulties taming it with EQ and it's almost like I have to do it on a song by song basis. Too much and everything sounds too muted and dampened and too little and it's painful with some electronic genres. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I use the Audeze Reveal plugin. It is free and has presets for all the Audeze headphones. Fixed the issue for me.

Reveal plugins through Roon. I also find that MQA filters soften it as well.

It also depends on amp. I have Milo and haven't found any problem with treble. I would say there could be even more  And yes, Reveal is probobly the best solution, I used it with i4 in the past and it worked very well.

BTW, found LCD4 very power hungry, even more than my Abyss.

violectric v280, from my demo, kept the highs in check and worked REALLY well with lcd4

Agree with the above; had a good synergy with the Violectric V200 but sold it on because I needed balanced.

Sennheiser HD880s had harsh treble often. Don't find that with LCD-4, at all. My hearing could be going, though! Benchmark HPA-4 controls these cans incredibly well. Black noise floor. Very dynamic, incredible at minimal volume, as well. You don't have to push these all the time. Have yet to try the plug-ins for Roon. Must give it a go. I'm most impressed with the separation and soundstage.

I had a problem with the LCD-X in the treble particularly with female vocals in a higher range but no problem at all with the LCD-4. I have been using stand alone streamers almost since I got into Head-fi so I have never been able to try out any plug-ins or presets. Probably better if I don't as I am very happy with the way they sound now.

I used to have upper treble issues, but the Wells Audio amp and the Norne Draug Silver completely solved that for me.

I really like the Norne Silvergarde on my LCD4. Smoothed out the whole response with excellent detail retrieval.

You just need to avoid bright amps and it will be fine

Using the Reveal headphone plugin anyone notice a difference between the filter types - Zero Latency and Linear Phase? High quality does use significantly more CPU and results in some latency between input song choice and output audio but can't say I hear a difference really between filter types. Also anyone using the peak limiter?

After first session I can say that for me the midgrange in LCD-4 is softer and more gentle than VC's. But when we talk about ZMF everything is connected to used pads.
For me Audeze is better for more quiet listening when Verite for more loud.
