Thinking of buying one of those $300 Atom processor netbooks to hold and stream FLAC from MusicBee out to a DAC.  Do they have enough processing power?  Any other concerns?

Yes the n570 and the n2600 have plenty of processing power.   2GB of ram for windows 7 is a MUST however.

I use to have an Asus Eee PC 701. 4GB SSD, 900Mhz processor, 1GB of RAM ( after upgrade ) on Windows XP. Hook up an external HDD and DAC with Foobar2000 with ASIO and it worked perfectly. I wish I wouldn't have tinkered so much with it's innerds. I miss that lil' guy.

Yes, 1GB of ram for XP, and 2GB for 7.

My Asus netbook had 2GB of RAM standard and ran XP without issue - at one stage I had Voyage MPD running off a USB stick - my music on an SD card - and I could completely remove the hard drive and just let mpd shuffle through my music. End of the day, I'd prefer something like a Squeezebox Touch hooked up to a NAS or one of the new streamers from Marantz/NAD/CA - you shouldnt have to boot a computer up just to listen to music.
