Hey Guys, I was wondering if any of you would reccomend the Radeon 9600 XT. I want to upgrade so that I can Unreal 2004 and later Half-Life 2. Do You guys think this a good card and if so do you know of any reliable sites that sell it for a good price.
(P.S. If I do try and get this card, I'll be trying to get the one that comes with the free Half-Life 2 Cupon)

EDIT: Oh also i have a P4 2.4 Ghz CPU and 512 of RAM so I ok as far as that stuff goes...
Thanks for any help

Definityl a good card. Do not consider the nvidia GFFX5700(same price point) , it costs more and is less of a performer. Some are shipping without the HL2 coupon, so make sure you get one with it.

I've bought alot from www.newegg.com Definitly recommend them, great shipping and service.

Before you buy, check the store on www.resellerratings.com to see their rating.

Price difference between 9600XT and 9800Pro isn't as big as it was before. I'd just get the 9800Pro.

newegg is a good place. i get most of my stuff there.

the performance is actaully suprising, i thought it would be worse, it is comparable to the fx5800. you should be able to get atleast a 3dmark2001 bench score of 10,000. i recommend no more than 1024x768 resolution with it.

for me i would buy a radeon9500 for $125, but thats just me.

NewEgg has the Radeon 9800 Pro for around $200 (refurbished) or $230 (full retail). I was deciding whether or not to get the 9600XT and saw that the 9800 Pro wasn't much more expensive and went for it. Only problem with my refurbed card is some snow artifacts at stock speeds so I am going to RMA it and hopefully the next one will be fine, just like my refurbished 9100 I bought from them middle of last year. But scores of 5400 on 3DMark 2003 and 17000 on 3DMark2001 are quite nice, and I can play the Unreal Tournament 2004 demo at 1152x864 at full speed.
