The Audiotechnicas mid-range is very lush and upfront. It has a nice coloration to it. I haven't heard the LA7000s but doubt they would beat the Audiotechnicas mid-range.

True. But is the OP willing to spend that much on it? I'd wonder how a modded Audiotechnica would sound 
. I wouldn't want my cups touched though lol. Too beautiful. My Denon 5000s turned into Open-backs where very nice. I'd say on the same plane as even the Audio-technicas. A more open and aggressive sound but very nice. I regret selling them in a way...
