ATH-M50X alternatives...

The ATH-M40X is more balanced that the M50X. The MSR7 is a worthy consideration as mentioned earlier. Get a Havi B3 or Martin Logan Mikros 90 if you are willing to go with an IEM or on-ear headphone.

You can try the Beyerdynamic dt250. They are good for rock and metal. The bass is tighter and faster than on the m50x, but it is not bloated. The mids are very flat but not recessed as on the 770 pros. I would not recommend the msr7 for rock, vecause they are too gentle and soft for this genre.

My budget is around 200$. What closed headphones can you suggest me?

If I had to buy closed back headphones with a budget of $200 I would have bought Sony MDR-1A

Look no further than the HD25 from Sennheiser, the classic version (HD25-1II or its replacement now simply called HD25), particularly if you are into progressive rock, electric guitar and all that stuff... HD25 rocks! Sound is close to the Ath-M50 without the emphasized bass and with more natural mids. And the high mids/highs are well suited to acoustic/electric guitars. In a sense its similar to the Grados, but with tighter bass and in a closed design. Just try it with the live version of Private Investigations by Dire Straits and you'll understand my point. Try it out.

Yes it is. However as these are imports you may not be able to claim warranty from Sony America. Sony MDR-1A is much cheaper in countries other than US. UK normally has higher prices than US but MDR-1A are cheaper than M50x on Amazon.co.uk
