ATH-M50s vs ATH-M50

I'm a little confused. If the only difference is the straight vs coiled cable why is the M50s ranked 5th and  M50 ranked 83rd.
 
Shouldn't they be ranked the same?

Probably because they have different ratings by different owners, not to mention the sample size as well. The real question is why didn't Head-fi combine them?

I noticed when it comes to the sennheiser hd 25 they split it between the adidas and normal versions. Perhaps they had similar reasons to do it to the m50s as well. Personally i think the same models should be the same models. Why clutter the product reviews.

It's virtually the same headphone with the same length cable, just the difference between coiled and uncoiled. The difference between rankings (i would assume) is because more people buy the straight cabled one? The coiled version is a lot better for me (no more tangled cables).

I purchased the Coiled version.  One of the deciding factors was the high rank of the M50s. Didn't see the coiled version way down in position 83.   Regardless of the ranking I like them.
