Hello,
My ideal spending budget would be around $120-130 and both the M50s and the 580s meet that range. I listen to mainly metal/hard rock, but also tend to listen to some electronic/dubstep stuff and even occasionally indie and the like. I have also seen very favorable reviews for the 780s but don't know if they are worth spending $30 over the 580s or the M50s.
Which headphones would you guys recommend and if you have any other ideas that meet my budget and what I would want theyre appreciated!

ps. I am gonna be using my laptop, iPod touch, and LG G2x phone for listening without any amplification

Personally, I'd choose the HFI-580's.

My time with the HFI-780's was limited, but what I heard was kind of hard to listen to because their over-emphasized treble.

Between the HFI-580's and the M50's, I'd take the HFI-580's any day of the week. Much more pronounced mid range, while offering more bass when needed, and less bass when not.

^I second what he said.

580 > M50 for the bass--it's seriously addictive.

And 580 vs 780, I read the same complaints about the 780's treble, so I skipped it and picked up a HFI-580 secondhand. Very good headphone without amplification, really great for bass, and it still sounds "clean", you know? Nothing feels muddied up or muffled.

Thanks guys! I think Im gonna get the 580s then, and the affordability just makes them that much more attractive to me!

Awersome! You'll have to post impressions when you get them.
