my earpads are cracking. its because polyurethane degrades when exposed to long term heat and humidity (ears). i want to remove all the pleather. i see there are 3 ways to do this: dissolve the poly with a solvent, sand it off, gently. or put them in the oven and spray them with water hoping to speed up the cracking,
solvents don't work, its too messy.
there is a fine mesh below the pleather, i dont want to damage it. and sanding sucks
so im going to put them in the oven, or apply heat somehow, ill keep it humid with some water or a better solvent if it exists. then once they're fully cracked, ill be able to peel off the pleather easily.
now the easy part: buy some some cloth, silk, velour (is one better for headphone use?) then get a seamstress to stich it on to the earpad.
why bother removing the pleather at all? because i hate it
